Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
