Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
