Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
