Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
