Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
