Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
