Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
