Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
