Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
