Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
